JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) continues to strengthen connectivity and the economy in Daop 6 Yogyakarta and Daop 7 Madiun through the YIA and Adi Soemarmo (BIAS) Airport Train services, which are now the backbone of new mobility that drives cross-regional activities and economics.
KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba explained that airport train services are not just a mode of transportation, but an economic driving catalyst that opens up new opportunities for the community.
"The airport train provides an efficient and competitive way of mobility. From Yogyakarta to Madiun, the presence of this service is a link to productivity that accelerates economic activity," said Anne in an official statement, Monday, October 13.
Anne revealed that from January to September 2025, the Adi Soemarmo Airport Train (BIAS) had served 613,403 customers, consisting of 296,948 departing passengers and 316,455 arriving at stations in the Daop 6 area such as Palur, Solojebres, Solo Balapan, Adi Soemarmo, and Sragen.
The highest spike occurred during the Eid holidays and national holidays, with the highest record departing passengers in May as many as 37,737 people and the highest arriving passengers in April as many as 42,039 people, he said.
According to Anne, Solo Balapan, Sragen, and Solojebres Stations are listed as the most populous mobility nodes that emphasize the position of Solo Raya as the new economic epicenter in Central Java.
"This trend is proof that people increasingly trust rail-based modes as a timely, comfortable, and environmentally friendly transportation option," added Anne.
As part of the service expansion, since August 17, 2025, the BIAS train track has been officially extended to Caruban Station, expanding the reach from Adi Soemarmo Airport to the Madiun Raya area.
Now, KA BIAS serves 10 main stations in Central Java and East Java, namely Adi Soemarmo, Kadipiro, Solo Balapan, Solojebres, Palur, Sragen, Walikukun, Ngawi, Magetan, and Caruban. YIA Airport is the main choice because it is able to cut travel time, avoid congestion, and remains in line with sustainability principles. This mode is not only efficient, but also environmentally friendly because it reduces dependence on private vehicles," explained Anne.
KA YIA operates from 04.20 to 21.30 WIB, serving the Yogyakarta 'Wates' YIA route. Modern facilities such as a comfortable waiting room, commercial area, prayer room, lactation room, and device charging place also provide a more classy travel experience.
Anne emphasized that the presence of airport train services in the Daop 6 and Daop 7 Madiun areas is a tangible form of KAI's role in supporting regional agglomeration and sustainable economic growth.
"The airport does not only connect airports with stations, but also unites the community with new opportunities, ranging from business, tourism, to economic equity. This is proof that public transportation can become the motor of the nation's progress," concluded Anne.
