The Ministry of Public Works (PU) will immediately restore infrastructure after the flash flood disaster that hit Nagekeo Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
Repairing roads and bridges is a top priority in order to facilitate logistics delivery.
As an emergency response step, the Ministry of Public Works through the NTT National Road Implementation Center (BPJN) of the Directorate General of Highways has deployed heavy equipment, namely five excavator units, four dump trucks and one crane truck that already exists at the disaster site.
The team in the field has also installed warning signs at a number of vulnerable points and started installing gabions to prevent further erosion.
During his visit to Nagekeo Regency, NTT, today, PU Minister Dody Hanggodo emphasized that his party would tackle the flood disaster in the area optimally and as soon as possible.
"For the bridge to be cut off (Theodee 1 and 2), a bailey bridge will be installed so that the rehabilitation process can be accelerated. In the future, a Sabo DAM will be made in the upstream part of the river so that incidents like this will not happen again in the future," said Dody, quoted from his written statement, Friday, September 19.
Regent Nagekeo Simplisius Donatus expressed his appreciation for the arrival of Minister Dody Hanggodo to the disaster site, which was considered a form of state presence.
"The presence of the Minister today proves that the state through the Ministry of Public Works is present when the people of Nagekeo are having difficulties. In addition, the presence of the Minister proves that Nagekeo is not alone," he said.
The flood disaster that hit Nagekeo was caused by heavy rains that hit since September 8, 2025. Several houses, vehicles and livestock carried away by the flood currents, with the death toll of six people died and three people missing have not been found.
Another impact is that eight bridge points were severely damaged. Among the eight points, there are two bridges whose access was cut off in Sawu Village (Terodhae 1 Bridge and Teadhae 2).
This also makes the connecting access between Sawu Village and the capital city of Maudonggo sub-district not pass.
For this reason, BPJN NTT synergizes with the TNI team of the Udayana Military Command to build an emergency bailey bridge as a temporary replacement for the Teadhae 1 and 2 bridges.
The 30-meter-long bailailey bridge in Teadhae 1 was carried out by BPJN NTT, while the bailey bridge in Teadhae 2 which also has a length of 30 meters was carried out by the Udayana Military Command Team.
