JAKARTA - The commitment of PT Industri Jamu and Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk (Sido Muncul) in providing free cataract operations received appreciation at the 2025 Perdami Award, which was held by the Association of Indonesian Eye Specialists (Perdami) at Trans Studio Bandung, on Saturday, September 6.
Sido Muncul received a special award, namely Djoko Sarwono Honorary Award for his contribution in the field of eye health. The award was handed over directly by the Chairman of Perdami, Prof. dr. Budu, PhD, SpM(K), M.MedEd, to the Director of Sido Muncul, Dr. (HC) Irwan Hidayat.
This is the second award that Sido Muncul received from Perdami for consistency in efforts to reduce blindness due to cataracts in Indonesia.
According to Irwan, the forms of cooperation that have been established so far include free cataract operations and assistance for elementary school children. Irwan also emphasized that cooperation with Perdami will continue.
"I am happy to represent Sido Muncul to receive an award as a company that participates in the management of blind cataracts. And we will continue our participation program for the community with Perdami," said Irwan.
Sido Muncul is noted to have healed more than 57,000 eyes through free cataract operations in various regions in Indonesia. This program not only helps patients in need but also provides great benefits for the education of young eye specialists.
"This free cataract operation is very helpful for the education of doctors. So, this contribution is not only for the community, but also for medical education," he said.
