Vehicle Flow On The Belmera Toll Road Increases 13 Percent During The Prophet's Maulid Holiday

PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk noted a significant increase in traffic flow on a number of toll roads in North Sumatra during the Maulid holiday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW 1447 Hijri. The highest spike occurred in the Belawan Medan (Belmera) section which became the main door to Medan City.

Senior General Manager of Jasamarga Nusantara Tollroad Regional Division, Tyas Pramoda Wardhani, said a total of 20,470 vehicles crossed the Amplas Toll Gate (GT) to Medan City. This figure is up 13.08 percent compared to the normal volume of 18,103 vehicles.

"Traffic to Medan City through GT Amplas was recorded at 20,470 vehicles, an increase of 13.08 percent from normal," said Tyas, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, September 6.

In addition to the Belmera Toll Road, increased traffic was also recorded on the Medan 'Kualanamu' Tinggi Cliff (MKTT) section. From GT Kualanamu to Medan City, 4,812 vehicles were recorded, only up 2.73 percent from normal, namely 3,889 vehicles.

However, the route to Kualanamu International Airport actually experienced a bigger increase. The volume of vehicles through GT Kualanamu to the airport reached 5,342 vehicles, an increase of 29.25 percent compared to the normal volume of 4,133 vehicles.

Overall, during the Maulid Nabi holiday period, the volume of traffic on the Belmera Toll Road reached 85,344 vehicles, an increase of 5.8 percent from normal days. Meanwhile, on the MKTT Toll Road, the volume of vehicles was recorded at 15,277 units, an increase of 20.01 percent compared to normal conditions.

Anticipating densities, Jasa Marga conveyed its commitment to continue to inform the public about the current traffic conditions periodically. Tyas also appealed to to toll road users to ensure the driver's physical readiness and condition of the vehicle before traveling long distances.

"Make sure the vehicle is in prime condition and roadworthy, fill up full fuel before leaving, and prepare sufficient electronic money balance," he said.

Road users are also advised to top up e-money balances through the Travoy application or refill outlets in the rest area, in order to avoid queues or technical problems at toll gates.

"Make sure the electronic money card is in good condition and the balance is sufficient. Safety remains a top priority," Tyas concluded.
