JAKARTA - Minister of Creative Economy (Menekraf) Teuku Riefky Harsya said that the growth of creative economy investment in Indonesia in the first semester of 2025 reached IDR 90.1 trillion.

The total investment until the first semester of 2025 has touched IDR 90.12 trillion, surpassing the previous year's achievement of IDR 64.22 billion. In terms of manpower, the creative economy sector has absorbed 26.5 million workers by 2024. This figure is projected to stabilize to 27.7 million workers by 2029.

Exports of ekraf sub-sectors in Semester I 2025 were dominated by fashion with 7.09 billion US dollars, crafts amounting to 5.01 billion US dollars, and culinarycurrencies reaching 767 million US dollars.

Market diversification has also begun to strengthen with shipments to Switzerland, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates increasing from 5.7 percent to 19.14 percent. With new program proposals such as the Empowerment of Creative Villages, Craft & Culinary Industry for MSMEs, Local Event & Festivals, Inclusive & Social Programs and seeing positive impacts in the midst of current challenges, the Ministry of Creative Economy proposes a new budget initiative of IDR 2.24 trillion.

Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky emphasized the importance of proportional budget support to ensure the sustainability of priority programs.

"We expect the proposed activity program to obtain commensurate technical and fiscal considerations, to ensure continuity of the implementation of priority programs in the creative economy sector. Public services and creative programs must run optimally so that this sector becomes a new engine of national growth starting from the regions," he said.

The chairman of the House of Representatives Commission VII meeting, Rahayu Saraswati Djojohadikusumo, in conclusion agreed to the addition of the budget.

He urged the relocation of the budget to substantive programs that have an impact on people's welfare.

Rahayu Saraswati added that the budget discussion was not just a number, but to ensure direct benefits for the community.

"We want the budget allocation to really strengthen creative economy, so that it can boost economic growth while improving people's welfare," said Rahayu Saraswati.
