JAKARTA - The government, along with Bank Indonesia (BI), is once again implementing a burden-sharing scheme this year, as a form of synergy to support state funding.
For your information, this scheme was previously implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the aim of helping finance state debt in addressing the health and economic crises caused by the pandemic.
BI Governor Perry Warjiyo stated that this burden-sharing initiative is aimed at funding various people-oriented economic programs that are part of the Asta Cita (Asta Cita) agenda of President Prabowo Subianto's administration.
He revealed that as of Monday, September 1, 2025, Bank Indonesia had purchased IDR 200 trillion worth of Government Securities (SBN).
According to Perry, SBN purchases not only play a role in maintaining the stability of the rupiah exchange rate and ensuring adequate liquidity, but also support the financing of priority government programs.
"We have updated that since yesterday, we have purchased IDR 200 trillion in SBN. The latest data includes debt switching," he said at the Working Meeting of Committee IV with the Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, the Minister of Finance, and the Governor of BI on Tuesday, September 2.
He explained that some of the funds will be used to finance community-based programs such as the construction of 3 million houses, the development of the Merah Putih Village Cooperative, and various other priority programs.
"We are synergizing with the Minister of Finance to allocate some of the SBN funds to fund community-based economic programs within the Asta Cita program, such as public housing and the Merah Putih Village Cooperative. This will be done through burden sharing, or interest-sharing, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance. This will reduce the financing burden of community-based economic programs within the Asta Cita program," he said.
