Coal Exports Drop 21.74 Percent

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the export performance of coal commodities from January to July 2025 decreased by 21.74 percent to 13.82 billion US dollars.

In fact, previously in the same period in 2024, the export performance of this black gold commodity was recorded at 17.66 billion US dollars.

"The value of coal exports has decreased by 21.74 percent cumulatively," said Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics Pudji Ismartini, Monday, September 1.

He explained that the cumulative decline in exports was due to a 6.95 percent decrease in export volume.

Just so you know, coal exports have a market share of 9.08 percent of the total non-oil and gas exports from January to July 2025.

Sementara itu, volume ekspor batu bara anjlok menjadi 214,71 juta ton pada Januari-Juli 2025 dari kumulatif pada periode Januari-Juli 2024 sebesar 230,76 juta ton.

"Ini mengindikasikan adanya penurunan permintaan dari mitra dagang kita terutama di negara Tiongkok, India, Jepang dan Filipina," tandas dia.

Meanwhile, the volume of coal exports fell to 214.71 million tons in January-July 2025 from the cumulative period in January-July 2024 of 230.76 million tons.

"This indicates a decline in demand from our trading partners, especially in China, India, Japan and the Philippines," he said.
