Freeport Boss Ensures Oxygen Factory In Its Smelter Operates September 7

JAKARTA - PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) President Director Tony Wenas ensured that the improvement of the oxygen factory in the smelter managed by PT Smelting in Gresik will be completed on September 7. Just so you know, previously this oxygen factory was damaged so that as many as 100,000 tons of copper concentrate could not be processed.

"The oxygen factory next door, which is needed for the operation there is damage, maybe around September 7 it can produce again," Tony told the media crew when met in Tribrata, Wednesday, August 27.

According to Tony, the oxygen factory is an important component in the process of refining the copper concentrate and cannot be replaced by supplying oxygen from other places. The reason is, the amount of oxygen needed is very large.

"The one at PT Smelting stopped production. Stop for a while. There is no downtime due to maintenance and there is also a problem in oxygen so it stops," he explained.

For information, the purification capacity at PT Smelting reaches 1.3 million tons per year. Meanwhile, most of Smelting's shares were narrowed by PTFI by 65 percent and the rest was owned by PT Mitsubishi Material Corporation.
