JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the significant progress of the Indonesian economy which continues to grow positively despite being in the shadow of global uncertainty.
Prabowo said that the national economy recorded a growth of 5.12 percent year-on-year (yoy) in the second quarter of 2025, an increase compared to the achievement in the first quarter of 2025 of 4.87 percent.
"With the support of all components of the nation, the government is united in fighting so that the people are protected, the Indonesian economy remains stable, and public services are running effectively," he said in the submission of the 2026 State Budget Bill and Financial Notes in Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, August 15.
He added that this growth was supported by public consumption, which increased by 4.97 percent, exports recorded a 10.67 percent increase, mainly thanks to the large contribution from the downstream sector.
According to him, this increase in economic activity also played a role in reducing the unemployment rate to 4.76 percent as of February 2025, from 4.82 percent in the previous year, accompanied by the creation of 3.6 million new jobs.
In terms of poverty alleviation, he added that the Government succeeded in reducing the poverty rate to 8.47 percent, which is the lowest level in Indonesian history.

Meanwhile, Prabowo said that inflation was maintained at a low level of 2.4 percent, in order to maintain price stability and people's purchasing power, especially vulnerable groups.
"This is real evidence, with hard work and seriousness we are able to fight for the fate of millions of Indonesians to live a more prosperous life," he said.
Furthermore, Prabowo said that optimism for the Indonesian economy was getting stronger.
