Up Thin, Electricity Consumption Per Head Of Capita Amounting To 1,464 KWh

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia reported, until June 2025 the realization of electricity consumption per capita Indonesia was recorded at 1,448 kWh. This figure is up slightly from the previous year's achievement which was recorded at 1,411 kWh.

However, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources reported that this figure had reached 98.9 percent of the target of 1,464 kWh.

"This shows the Government's commitment to increasing public access to electricity and also encouraging economic development," Bahlil said at the Semester I Performance Achievement Press Conference, quoted on Tuesday, August 11.

Based on the records of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, electricity consumption per capita shows an increasing trend from year to year. In 2021, consumption per capita is recorded at 1,123 kWh, then in 2022 it will increase to 1,173 kWh and in 2023 it will be 1,337 kWh.

Bahlil said that per capita electricity consumption is one of the important components to determine the Indonesian economy.

"To determine economic growth, we are usually seen from the growth of electricity per capita," he continued.

Previously, Bahlil said that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources had raised the electricity consumption target per capita during the President Prabowo Subianto administration period until 2029 to boost economic growth by 8 percent.

Previously, the electricity consumption target per capita ranged from 4,000 to 5,000 KWh per capita. With this target, he continued, the economic growth that was formed was only 5 percent.

"The DEN (National Energy Council) in the DPR has decided that at 5,500 it is for economic growth of 6 percent," Bahlil said in his remarks on the agenda of the 10th Indonesia International Geothermal Convention and Exhibition (IRGCE) at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Wednesday, September 18.

For this reason, Bahlil said his ministry pushed the consumption target per capita RI to 6,600 KWh to encourage economic growth of up to 8 percent.
