JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) continues to innovate to create derivative fishery products to support downstream programs while increasing the national fish consumption rate.
This effort is also accompanied by the introduction of products regularly to the public as business opportunities and adds insight into various fishery products processing.
The KKP Marine Product Implementation Testing Center (BBP3KP) has succeeded in developing 244 innovative products that are easy to process at home and have the potential to become business opportunities.
Of these, 143 products have been adopted and developed by business actors with the most developed products are sheet abon and fish meatballs.
The Director General of Strengthening the Competitiveness of Marine and Fishery Products (PDSPKP) KKP Tornanda Syaifullah said the downstream business opportunity was very large.
"We also want to build on the habit of fish consumption through innovative, easy to process and attractive processed products. In addition, we are trying to eliminate negative perceptions of fish, such as an amic smell, allergies or fear of thorn," Tornanda said as quoted from the KKP official website, Tuesday, August 12.
To support socialization, BBP3KP maximizes Cars for Technology and Information Transfer (ATI) in introducing hundreds of products made from fish and seaweed produced downstream to various regions. Education targets include housewives, PKK members and students.
The downstream products include sheet fish abons, crystal noodles made from seaweed, fish cookies and biopharmacology products that take advantage of fishery side products, such as albumin and collagen extracted from fish skin and bones.
