Chandra Asri Takes Advantage Of 60.33 Tons Of Waste For Cofiring

JAKARTA - PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (TPIA) reports that it has implemented the Cofiring Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) commercially to support renewable energy contributions and strengthen sustainable waste management throughout its operations.

Since July 2025, RDF cofiring has been applied to the Chandra Asri Group Site Office Puloampel coal boillary. RDF is used as an alternative fuel of 5 percent of the total energy needs in the bouncer.

Circular Economy & Partnership Manager of Chandra Asri Group, Nicko Setyabudi explained that the cofiring RDF is a method of burning a mixture of RDF, in the form of waste that has been processed into fuel with coal, as part of a clean energy transition strategy and reducing dependence on fossil energy.

"The waste used is in the form of solid waste, especially organic and inorganic, with the volume of utilization reaching 60.33 tons of waste," he said, Thursday, August 7.

Nicko further said that the implementation of RDF cofiring is a manifestation of the Company's commitment to implementing the circular economy. This program is part of the company's strategy to reduce dependence on fossil energy and encourage sustainable waste management.

"Cofiring RDF not only presents fuel alternatives, but is also a real solution for waste management that is in line with the circular economic concept," said Nicko.

The environmental impact is also seen from the efficiency of the low-emission burning process in producing energy, the implementation of the Cofiring RDF is estimated to reduce the amount of carbon emissions by 29.63 Tons of equivalent CO2.

In addition, the results of actual emission monitoring show positive results, where all emission parameters are well below the environmental quality standard threshold.

The implementation of the RDF cofiring has added to the type of renewable energy mix used by the Chandra Asri Group. Since 2020, the Company has used the roof Solar Power Plant (PLTS) as one of the renewable energy, and is now using waste as an energy source through the Cofiring RDF.
