The Ministry Of Industry Calls There Are Interest Investors Entering The Textile Sector, This Is The Leak

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) said that there are already investors who are interested in investing in the textile sector in Indonesia.

The Director General of Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Textile Industries (IKFT) of the Ministry of Industry, Taufiek Bawazier, said the investments that would enter were, especially in the integrated textile sector and factory sector.

"Semester two already exists (interesting). However, it is an indication of how investors see Indonesia in terms of textiles," Taufiek told reporters when met at the Ministry of Industry Building, Jakarta, Friday, August 1.

Taufiek said the interested investors came from Sweden and China.

"There are variations. Yesterday, there was a joint with Sweden in Brebes, the second from China," he said.

Even so, Taufiek was reluctant to provide further information on the value of the investment to be disbursed.

Previously, PT Asia Pacific Fibers Tbk (POLY), one of the largest manufacturers of chemicals and polyester fiber in Indonesia, officially stopped all of its factory operations in Karawang, West Java, permanently.

Quoted from the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) Information Disclosure, POLY faces sluggish demand for industrial products, both from within the country and abroad.

Management explained that the global overcapacity, the increase in export rates to the United States (US) to the increase in raw material prices was a challenge for the company's business.

Meanwhile, domestically, companies are facing uncertainty in government policies, such as the implementation of anti-dumping duties and revisions of import regulations that are not as expected by the industry.

"Therefore, the company will declare a permanent closure of this production unit and take the necessary steps to revise its business projections based on the operation of the Kaliwungu 'Kendal factory in the future," explained POLY management quoted from Information Disclosure, Tuesday, July 22.
