JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir admitted that the electricity consumption of the Ministry of SOEs fell 18 percent. The decline in electricity consumption occurred in line with the implementation of efficiency.
The efficiency is carried out in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's direction based on Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025, the ministry/institutional budget (K/L) is cut to IDR 256 trillion.
Erick said, one of the steps taken to save electricity consumption is to use an LED light equipped with a motion sensor or motion sensor, where the lights will turn on when detecting the surrounding movement and turn off after some time without activity.
"In our office, there are already LEDs with motion sensors. So sometimes again meetings, suddenly they die. These things may sometimes be annoying for those of us who are in a meeting. But that's part of efficiency," Erick said at the Green Impact Festival at the Djakarta Theater, Thursday, July 24.
With the efficiency carried out, continued Erick, the operation of the Ministry of SOEs managed to save up to 18 percent of electricity consumption.
"If you look at the impact, coincidentally this is also budget efficiency in the government, that's 18 percent of electricity consumption in our office," he said.
Not only the use of electricity, the Ministry of SOEs also performs efficiency from the use of paper or paperless. Erick said that work and administrative activities were carried out digitally so as to reduce paper consumption.
Erick said this step was also an effort by the Ministry of SOEs to support green movement to maintain a cleaner environment.

“Hal-hal ini kecil kebijakannya, tapi ini juga jadi movement kita harapkan. Kita juga coba menghemat bagaimana kita traveling pun, kita coba hitung berapa cost carbon yang kita keluarkan. Nah memang annoying (menggangu) buat sebagian tim saya. Tapi ini komitmen,” tutur Erick.

Including, an audit of the energy use of the Ministry of SOEs Building through internal carbon pricing (ICP), namely the provision of value on each ton of carbon emissions resulting from the ministry's operations.
"These things are small policies, but we also hope that this will be a movement. We are also trying to save on how we travel, we are trying to calculate how much carbon costs we spend. Now it's indeed annoying (trouble) for some of my team. But this is a commitment, "said Erick.
