JAKARTA - The Ministry of Business, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) regrets that many malls in Indonesia rarely sell local products.

Deputy for Small Business at the Ministry of MSMEs Temmy Satya Permana said, there are only 1-2 stores in malls that still provide local products.

"Now if we play at the mall, maybe we rarely see Hammer (local clothes brands) now. Because only a few malls want to serve local products, the rest of our products can only compete, maybe 1-2 shops, the rest are products from outside," said Temmy in his remarks at the Inabuyer B2B2G Expo 2025 event at the Smesco Building, Jakarta, Thursday, July 24.

In fact, said Temmy, based on Government Regulation (PP) Number 7 of 2021 concerning Ease, Protection, and Empowerment of Cooperatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, it has been regulated regarding the allocation of 30 percent of public infrastructure areas for MSME business activities.

"It's okay, there's no problem, but still we encourage friends of mall entrepreneurs to provide space (places) for local products. In our regulation, 30 percent is obliged to provide a place for local products," he said.

Moreover, he continued, currently the domestic market is an easy target for the arrival of goods from abroad. Remember, the population of Indonesia is quite large.

"Entrepreneurs abroad view our market as a very potential market. Our 270 million people are very extraordinary markets for foreign products. I don't mention one country, but from all countries," said Temmy.

Temmy appreciated the Local Use Thursday Movement or 'Gaspol' initiated by the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag).

He hopes that the campaign can be implemented in all ministries/agencies.

"For that, we appreciate Gaspol, the Thursday Local Use Movement, from friends at the Ministry of Trade. Hopefully, this Gaspol is not only in the Ministry of Trade, but in all ministries/agencies and SOEs," he concluded.
