JAKARTA - The government plans to continue the economic stimulus package program in the third quarter of 2025 to maintain the momentum of economic growth.
Spokesperson for the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Haryo Limanseto said the government is currently finalizing a number of further policies from the stimulus that has been disbursed in June-July 2025.
"Again, a stimulus package is being prepared, this week it is likely to be finalized," said Haryo at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 24.
However, Haryo has not been able to specify what kind of incentive will be given. He said the previous stimulus was still in the evaluation stage, while the new policies that were being prepared were more focused on priority programs.
"If there is no new incentive or new stimulus, only these priority programs need to be encouraged, the government spending yesterday is still lacking, it's still not big enough, such as for free nutritious food and housing, including housing KUR (People's Business Credit)," he said.
Previously, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto had also stated that the economic stimulus package would still be rolled out in the second semester of 2025. The government is still waiting for input from the business world regarding the type of stimulus most needed.
"We will continue the stimulus package. We have asked the industry to convey the things they need," said Airlangga.
As for the second quarter of this year, the government launched five packages of economic stimulus worth a total of IDR 24.44 trillion to maintain people's purchasing power during the school holidays.
This stimulus includes transportation subsidies, toll tariff discounts, social assistance, wage subsidies, and employment sector incentives.
Some forms of incentives include a 30 percent discount for train tickets, a 6 percent VAT discount for airplane tickets, and a 50 percent discount for sea transportation.
Meanwhile, the toll tariff is also discounted at 20 percent to support national mobility.
