President Prabowo Directs Budget 2026 To Finance Priority Programs

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto directed that the 2026 State Budget Draft be focused on financing government priority programs while maintaining fiscal discipline and encouraging regulatory reform.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati, at the Presidential Palace Complex, after reporting to the President regarding the finalization of the financial notes and RAPBN which will be submitted to the DPR on August 15, 2025.

"Business is focused on important programs, then the deficit must be maintained at a good level," he said delivering President Prabowo's direction, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 22.

According to Sri Mulyani, a number of excellent programs such as Free Nutrition Food (MBG), People's Schools, Red and White Village Cooperatives, Free Health Checks, school and madrasas improvements, as well as infrastructure development and food security are the cores of discussion with the President.

The government will also strengthen spending on strategic sectors, including primary and secondary education, school digitization, to research and innovation development.

Srimul said the deficit would be maintained within a healthy limit of a maximum of three percent, in order to continue to provide support for economic growth and maintain market confidence.

President Prabowo also gave directions so that the APBN would not be the only supporter of economic growth.

For this reason, the Minister of Finance encourages regulatory reforms to be strengthened, thereby facilitating investment, trade, and expanding the role of institutions, such as the Danantara, in the governance of state assets.

Sri Mulyani asked the public to look forward to the President's state speech on August 15, which will be an important momentum in conveying the direction of fiscal policy and national development priorities in 2026.
