JAKARTA - The Board of Experts for Nutrition, the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Ikeu Tanziha suggested to all Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) so that raw materials are not put together into turnover.
This is in response to the findings of clots in the Free Nutrition Food ready-to-eat (MBG) that occurred at SMA and SMK Negeri Tambakboyo, Tuban Regency, East Java, on July 14, 2025, or the first day of school activities for the new school year began.
"If possible, don't put fruits such as oranges, bananas into food trays. In addition to the possibility that there werebags, bacteria will also be contaminated in fruits," he said in his statement which was broadcast online via the official BGN Youtube channel, quoted on Sunday, July 20.
Ikeu said the finding of the meal was most likely from raw food mixed into the turnover, such as fruits or vegetables that did not go through the preheating process.
"It is possible that the oranges are rotten a little bit, so they are not monitored or in raw vegetables and then do not wash hot water," he explained.
For this reason, BGN encourages all SPPGs to tighten procedures for handling foodstuffs.
The raw vegetables, according to Ikeu, must go through a process of insertion into the hot water before being served.
This process is important for killing larvae and reducing the risk of bacteria.
"BGN now encourages all SPPGs if they put vegetables in raw form, they must be trained first or dip into hot water so that if there are settlers there they will come out or die," he appealed.

BGN also emphasized the importance of layered supervision by the SPPG.
In addition to ensuring that food ingredients have been cooked perfectly, strict monitoring of the cleanliness, quality, and storage of foodstuffs is also key to preventing similar incidents.
This step is part of the government's systematic efforts to ensure the feasibility and safety of nutritious food provided to the community, especially children who receive the free nutritious food assistance program.
