JAKARTA - Special Staff to the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) for Communication, Redy Hendra Gunawan, said that on August 17, 2025, or to coincide with the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), the distribution of the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) program was able to target 24 million beneficiaries.
"According to the president's direction, on August 17, the National Nutrition Agency will be able to serve beneficiaries of at least 24 million beneficiaries," he said when giving a weekly update statement which was broadcast online, quoted on Sunday, July 20.
This achievement is supported by the presence of 30,000 candidates for the Head of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) who have finished undergoing training and education which will strengthen the implementation of programs in the field.
"BGN has completed the education of 30,000 candidates for the Head of the SPPG, the result of cooperation with the Defense University. They will be placed in SPPGs that have been operating and which will be activated soon," said Redy.

Redy explained that 10,957 SPPG heads would be immediately deployed to oversee the verification process and other technical preparations in the field. This step is an important part in accelerating the operationalization of SPPG nationally.
"In the early stages, 10,957 SPPG heads will be directly tasked with monitoring the verification process for potential partners. We are targeting a minimum of 8,000 SPPGs to be operational by August," he explained.
According to Redy, this step shows BGN's seriousness in building a massive, structured and sustainable nutritious food system, in order to support national nutritional security.
The MBG program initiated by the government aims to provide access to nutritious food for free to millions of Indonesian children, especially in schools.
With the target number of beneficiaries reaching 82.9 million by the end of 2025, BGN is now in the crucial stage to ensure technical readiness, human resources, and other supporting infrastructure.
