JAKARTA - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk gave an explanation regarding the viral video about the blockage that occurred in West Cikarang Toll Jakarta-Cikampek or Japek heading to Jakarta.

Jasa Marga's Corporate Communication & Community Development Group Head Dwimawan Heru said that there had been a congestion on Thursday 6 May around 07.00 to 08.00 WIB, precisely at the location of KM 31 in the Cikampek (West Cikarang) direction of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road and the opposite direction.

"Considering the conditions in the field, finally at the discretion of the Police, at 10:50 am the Cikarang Barat exit from Cikampek will be reopened. Currently, conditions at that point towards Jakarta are in good condition," Heru said as quoted by Antara.

Heru said that the congestion occurred due to the closure of the Cikarang Barat access (from Cikampek to Jakarta) which was carried out at the discretion of the Police, so that road users from Jakarta who were turning around (because they did not carry requirements) would not be disturbed by the flow from Cikampek to exit West Cikarang. Thus the current from Cikampek is directed out after the West Cikarang Gate, namely the Cibitung Gate.

Previously, a viral video of hundreds of workers protested on the Jakarta-Cikampek Kilometer 31 toll road heading for Jakarta, Thursday, because they could not work due to the policy of blocking the homecoming ban.

The incident was recorded by a 30-second video which suddenly went viral on social media. Workers in various uniforms screamed in the middle of the toll road. They got off the employee bus vehicle while voicing that they were workers, not travelers. They want to cross, to work.

Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Director Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yudo confirmed the incident. According to him, the incident took place when the employees could not leave the West Cikarang Toll Gate.

Sambodo said the West Cikarang GT was indeed closed in the 2021 homecoming isolation. This step was taken to facilitate efforts to prevent travelers. He confirmed that his current condition had returned to normal.
