These Are The 10 US Commodities That Will Be Free Of Indonesian Import Duty

JAKARTA - President of the United States (US) Donald Trump announced the achievement of a new trade agreement with Indonesia, including related to import rates, after holding direct talks with President Prabowo Subianto.

For information in the agreement, the US agreed to set a import rate of 19 percent for products from Indonesia, lower than the previous 32 percent. Meanwhile, US export goods to Indonesia will be exempt from tariffs or free entry.

"Indonesia will pay the United States a 19 percent tariff for all of the goods they export to us, while US exports to Indonesia will be FREE Tariff and Non-Party Obstacles," Trump wrote via the @realDonaldTrump account on Truth Social social media on Tuesday, July 16, 2025.

Trump conveyed this agreement as a historic agreement reached after speaking directly with President Prabowo Subianto.

He claims that this important agreement allows the United States to open all access to the Indonesian market and make for the first time in History.

In addition, as part of the deal, Trump said Indonesia is also committed to investing in a number of American products.

"As part of the agreement, Indonesia has committed to buying 15 billion US Dollars in US Energy, 4.5 Billion US Dollars in American Agricultural Products, and 50 Boeing Jets, many of which are 777.," he said.

He added that this agreement provides a great opportunity for breeders, farmers, and fishermen of the United States to have access to the Indonesian market, which has a population of more than 280 million people.

He also emphasized that if there is a transportation from a higher tariff country, the tariff will be added to the tariff paid by Indonesia.

"Thank you to the Indonesian people for your friendship and commitment to balance our Trade Deficit. We will continue to provide results for the American People and the Indonesian People!" Trump wrote.

Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Trade sourced from the US Census Bureau Statistics, the total US exports to Indonesia in 2024 reached 10.2 billion US dollars or around Rp166.09 trillion. Even so, Indonesia only contributes about 0.49 percent of total global US exports.

The following are the 10 main commodities exported by the US to Indonesia in 2024:

- mineral fuel of 1.63 billion US dollars

- The seeds and fruit contain 1.26 billion US dollars worth of oil

- Machinery and mechanical equipment amounting to 1.21 billion US dollars

- Organic chemicals worth $ 0.91 billion

- Residu and the remainder of the food industry amounted to $ 0.62 billion

- US $ 0.52 billion worth of air vehicles

- Electric engine and equipment amounting to USD 0.44 billion

- Pulp of wood, paper worth $ 0.40 billion

- Milk products, poultry eggs, honey worth 0.21 billion US dollars

As for the list, there are four products with a fairly large share of exports to Indonesia, namely more than 3 percent of the total global US exports in the respective categories, namely Pulp and paper (4.70 percent), food industry Residu (4.28 percent), seeds and fruit containing oil (4.21 percent), Dairy products (3.18 percent).
