JAKARTA - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has proposed an additional budget of IDR 118 trillion for the 2026 fiscal year, to support the continuation and acceleration of the Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG) which is targeted to reach up to 82.9 million beneficiaries.
The indicative ceiling for 2026 that has been determined is IDR 217. This is based on a joint letter between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of National Development Planning (PPN)/Bappenas.
However, this amount is expected to be absorbed by the end of August 2026 if the program runs according to the target. Therefore, BGN re-proposes an additional IDR 118 trillion so that the program can continue until the end of the year.
According to him, the additional needs are adjusted to the service basis and the benefits of 82.9 million people. The reason is, the Rp217 trillion budget in 2026 will be absorbed quickly.
"We propose an additional Rp 118 trillion (for the 2026 indicative ceiling budget). (The 2025 indicative ceiling) is Rp71 trillion plus Rp50 trillion to Rp121 (trillion). We have issued the 2026 indicative ceiling, (as much as) Rp217 trillion," said Head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana to reporters at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Thursday, July 10.
With the proposed additional budget, BGN hopes that this program can reach all target targets in a sustainable and effective manner, including in disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas.
"Then, we also have a strategy for the implementation of the MBG Program in the 3T area, because the human resources have been and the acceleration will start in August (2025). In August we are targeting a minimum of 20 million beneficiaries, which means that they have absorbed Rp 7 trillion one month. We will increase it again in September, we will serve a minimum of 50 million (beneficiaries), it will absorb Rp 20 trillion," said Dadan.

He added that the success of the MBG Program depends on three main factors, namely budget, infrastructure, and human resources (HR). Until now, the number of human resources owned by BGN is still limited, which is around 3,000 people who are members of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG).
However, according to Dadan, the acceleration of the program will soon be realized in line with the end of the education of 30,000 Indonesian Development Drivers (SPPI) who underwent training and education at the Defense University.
These graduates will be immediately deployed to their respective regions and strengthen BGN's capacity in reaching more beneficiaries.
"In mid-July, on July 12 tomorrow, 30,000 Indonesian Development Movers (SPPI) who are educated at the Defense University will be completed. So that by the end of July, we can send them to their respective regions. And starting August, we can accelerate the implementation of the Free Nutrition Eating Program," he said.
