JAKARTA - Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) Eniya Listiani Dewi will soon meet the Governor of East Nusa Tenggara Province, Melkiades Laka Lena to discuss the continuation of the geothermal project on Flores Island. This meeting will also discuss the continuation of the rejection of the construction of the Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP).
Eniya explained that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources had deployed a team directly to six geothermal locations on Flores Island to conduct a sample test or verification and validation of field data. The results of the picking test have then been reported directly to Eniya for further discussion with stakeholders in NTT.
"The report has been to me, but I will meet the Governor (NTT) maybe next week," said Eniya to the media crew when met at The Langham Jakarta, Wednesday, June 19.
Eniya said, from the results of the picking test, Eniya and the Governor of NTT will discuss the follow-up to the picking test related to the trigger for a number of rejections that are still happening. He gave an example, when the people who protested against the promise of road construction by PT Sokoria Geothermal Indonesia (PT SGI) had not been realized.
"The follow-up must be, whether it is the trigger, for example there is a damaged road. We ask Sokoria (SGI) to repair damaged roads," said Eniya.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, he said, will also discuss a number of existing geothermal festivals or potentials to be developed later. According to Eniya, so far, geothermal development is still carried out half-heartedly even though there is great potential in the field.
"So there, whether we make ecotourism, or whether we want large investments so that the area is large, yes. At the same time we are working on it," said Eniya.

Just so you know, recently as many as six Bishops from Ende Church Province stated that they rejected the construction of geothermal projects in Flores and Lembata.
"God willing, we can make it geothermal island, so that's where the geothermal heat is extraordinary," said Eniya at the Press Conference The 11th Indonesia International Geothermal Convention & Exhibition (IIGCE) 2025 in Jakarta, Monday, April 14.
Eniya added that geothermal energy in Flores is believed to be able to replace the role of diesel power plants (PLTD) as power plants.
