JAKARTA - PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (MedcoEnergi), through its subsidiary Medco Power Indonesia (Medco Power), has started commercial operations for Solar Power Plants (PLTS) with a capacity of 25MWp managed by PT Medcosolar Bali Timur, located in Karangasem, East Bali.

Just so you know, the East Bali PLTS project was developed through a collaboration between Medco Power and Solar Philippines, and was operated under the 20-year Electricity Sale and Purchase Agreement (PJBL) with PT PLN (Persero).

Medco Power CEO & President Director, Eka Satria said, over the next two decades, this facility will supply renewable energy to local power grids, replace conventional energy sources and support national efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

"This PLTS can generate around 50 GWh of clean electricity per year, equivalent to the energy requirement of around 42,000 households," he said in a statement to the media, Wednesday, June 18.

Throughout its operational life, this plant is projected to avoid more than 800,000 tons of CO2 emissions.

According to him, the integration of East Bali PLTS into the local electricity network will strengthen the reliability of energy supply while at the same time supporting community sustainability and economic activities in the area.

Meanwhile, Director & CEO of MedcoEnergi, Roberto Lorato added, the East Bali PLTS project is part of MedcoEnergi's long-term strategy to diversify energy portfolios and invest in low-carbon solutions.

"Along with the growth of our renewable energy portfolio, MedcoEnergi remains committed to encouraging progress that provides added value to the environment, social and economy for Indonesia," he said.
