Damri increased the number of electric buses operated by 70 units of Zhongtong brand from China.

This latest fleet will soon be operated in the corridor of PT Transport Jakarta (TransJakarta) and is scheduled to be officially launched at the end of June 2025.

Damri's Head of Corporate Communication, Atikah Abdullah, said that the addition of this electric bus unit was part of the plan to pave 200 fleets by the end of 2025.

This step is part of Damri's strategic plan to expand its electric bus fleet, which now reaches hundreds of units.

With the presence of this Zhongtong electric bus, Damri further strengthens his role as a pioneer of sustainable public transportation in Indonesia, especially in the Jakarta area.

"This electric bus fleet is not only environmentally friendly with zero emissions, but also offers comfort and high efficiency for public transportation users in Jakarta," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, June 10.

Atikah explained that the Zhongtong electric bus that will be operated has a battery capacity capable of traveling up to 250 kilometers with one charge, and is equipped with the latest technology that guarantees optimal performance and efficient battery charging.

"Adequate charging facilities have also been prepared at several Damri depots in Jakarta to support the operation of this fleet," he said.

With this addition, continued Atikah, Damri's total electric bus units of 316 units and 116 of them have been operating in the TransJakarta corridor.

"It is assumed that each electric bus can replace a diesel fuel bus that produces CO2 emissions of around 1.5 to 2 tons per day depending on the distance, then 316 electric buses can significantly reduce CO2 emissions, reaching thousands of tons per year," concluded Atikah.
