JAKARTA - Information technology (IT) continues to grow in Indonesia. One of the latest technologies is blockchain. Currently, many blockchain communities are ready to develop it in Indonesia.
Risk, one of the decentralized blockchain platforms, in collaboration with BlockDevelid, the largest blockchain developer community in Indonesia, successfully organized the Hackathon Demo Day Risk Builder Challenge Round I on May 31, 2025 in Jakarta. Supported by the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi), this event became the culmination of a series of hackathons aimed at encouraging the adoption of blockchain and Web3 technology in Indonesia.
Through this competition, the participants built innovative projects that utilized stablecoin rupiah (IDRX) crypto as a key element in creating an applicative Web3 solution and had a direct impact on digital financial inclusion.
A total of 10 selected finalist teams presented their projects in front of a jury panel and audience consisting of industry players, the Web3 community, investors, and the media. The projects displayed reflect a creative and applicative approach to the use of blockchain technology to answer real challenges in society.
Supporting local hackathons such as the Risk Builder Challenge is very important to build a sustainable blockchain developer ecosystem. Activities like this not only bring together various parties in the industry, but also provide real motivation for developers to start building. With incentives, gifts, as well as opportunities to meet incubators and investors, participants have concrete channels to take their projects to the next level, "said William Sutanto, Founder of BlockDevid, quoted Monday, June 9.
More than just competition, this hackathon is also an important meeting point between communities, industry players, and regulators in strengthening cross-sectoral collaboration for the development of blockchain technology in Indonesia.
Blockchain and web3 are still too early. However, nowadays it has been loved a lot. It is important for us (Like) to involve all sides of the ecosystem, such as collaborating with BlockDevid, IDRX, and the Indonesian government," said Gideon, Head of Global Apps from Risk.
The event closed with the Awarding Ceremony, which awarded the best teams based on aspects of innovation, technical capability, and real-world implementation potential.
Here are the winners of the Risk Builder Challenge Round I:
Defender 1: CashSwap - decentralized stablecoin exchange platform based on IDRX Winner 2: DingDong Loans - peer-to-peer loan solution based on smart contract Winner 3: NusanSwap - decentralized exchange with IDRX integration
1st place winner CashSwap, shared their experiences. "From mentors, we got the insight to put more emphasis on the pain point we want to solve, so that audiences can better understand the problems we are dealing with. In addition, entering the zing market (TAM, SAM, SOM) is also very helpful to show the potential impact of this project. Regarding suggestions for developers who want to join the challenge, just do it. Web3 technology continues to grow, so the best way is just start first and keep learning while practicing."
Continuing this momentum, the Risk Builder Challenge Round II will launch in mid-June 2025, with coverage expanded to Southeast Asia (Southeast Asia). The next round will bring new challenges, more community support, and opportunities for cross-border collaboration.
