JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) continues to accelerate the construction of the Yogyakarta 'Bawen Toll Road. This toll road is also targeted to be fully completed by 2028.

PU Minister Dody Hanggodo assessed that the Yogyakarta 'Bawen Toll Road would be the main driver of economic growth and connectivity in the golden triangle area of Joglosemar (Jogja 'Solo' Semarang).

"In addition, with easier access to Borobudur and various other tourist destinations, we hope to increase tourist visits and encourage local economic growth," said Dody in his official statement, Tuesday, June 3.

The construction work for the Yogyakarta Toll Road was carried out by PT Jasamarga Jogja Bawen as the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT).

The investment value for the construction of the Yogyakarta Toll Road has reached IDR 14.26 trillion with construction costs of IDR 10.65 trillion.

This toll road crosses two provinces, namely, Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY).

In addition, this toll road will also be part of the Trans Java toll road network that connects the Semarang 'Solo Toll Road with the Yogyakarta' Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) Solo Toll Road in Kulon Progo.

Section 2 SS Banyurejo SS Borobudur along 15.20 kilometers with land acquisition progress 91.60 percent. Then Section 3 SS Borobudur SS Magelang along 8.10 kilometers with land acquisition progress of 73.20 percent.

Then Section 4 SS MagelangSS Temanggung along 16.65 kilometers with land acquisition progress of 36.54 percent. Next is Section 5 SS Temanggung SS Ambarawa along 21.39 kilometers with land acquisition progress of 11.25 percent.

Finally, Section 6 SS Ambarawa JC Bawen along 4.98 kilometers connected to the Semarang 'Solo Toll Road with a land acquisition progress of 95.8 percent and construction progress of 61.40 percent.

Director General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works, Roy Rizali Anwar, said that the segments that are already in the construction stage are Section 1 and are targeted for completion in the second quarter of 2026.

As for Section 6, said Roy, it is targeted to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025. "We will also accelerate the land acquisition for other sections so that construction can start immediately," said Roy.

According to Roy, the six sections of the Yogyakarta 'Bawen Toll Road can be completed in 2028. "It is hoped that it will be completed in 2027-2028," he concluded.
