JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Helvi Moraza said that one of the challenges faced by MSME entrepreneurs was access to financing.

He said that currently as many as 69.5 percent of MSMEs have not been able to access bank credit.

According to Helvi, there are several factors that cause this from inadequate Financial Financial Information Service System (SLIK) status, lack of collateral, to high lending rates that are no longer friendly for micro and small businesses.

"In fact, 43.1 percent of MSMEs still say they need credit for expansion and increased productivity," he said, Saturday, May 24.

Based on Indonesian Financial System Statistics (SSKI) in January 2025 released by Bank Indonesia, Helvi continued, in December 2024 the MSME credit ratio only reached 19.84 percent or Rp1,592 trillion of total bank loans of Rp8,024 trillion.

"Meanwhile, in the study of Ernst & Young in 2023, the need for MSME financing is projected to reach IDR 4,300 trillion in 2026, while the availability is only IDR 1,900 trillion. This means that there is a fairly large financing gap," he said.

To respond to this, Helvi added, the Government targets the distribution of KUR 2025 to reach Rp300 trillion. Where 60 percent of distribution is targeted for the production sector, with the number of new debtors reaching 2.34 million and debtors reducing to 1.17 million.

"The Ministry of MSMEs continues to encourage the optimization of bank credit distribution to MSME players. The distribution of KUR is not only oriented to increasing the number of debtors, but also to improving their quality," he said.

Helvi said the Ministry of MSMEs would also continue to strengthen the role of banking and financial institutions, to boost productive financing, especially for MSMEs.

"Bank Himbara, Regional Development Bank, and Micro Financial Institutions will be optimized through data integration and risk-based financing reforms that are more accurate and fair," he said.

In addition, he continued, the Government has also presented various policy instruments to support the MSME sector, such as PP 7/2021 concerning Ease, Protection, and Empowerment of KUMKM, as well as PP 47/2024 concerning the Elimination of Mutual Receivables.
