JAKARTA - The Association of Indonesian Post and Logistics Express Service Companies (Asperindo) requested that postal and logistical services focus on quality, along with the presence of Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Permen Komdigi) Number 8 of 2025 concerning Commercial Post Services.

The Asperindo DPP understands that the issuance of this new regulation will have implications that require postal organizers to adjust to new provisions as stated in this Komdigi Permen.

DPP Asperindo explained that this regulation was designed as the basis for a comprehensive update to the postal and courier ecosystems that are increasingly vital in supporting the growth of the digital economy and national connectivity in the current e-commerce era.

"With the issuance of Permen No. 8 of 2025, it is hoped that there will be no tariff war practices that lead to unfair business competition within the scope of the post and courier business industry ecosystem," wrote DPP Asperindo in its official statement, Monday, May 19.

DPP Asperindo appealed to member company services to rely on service quality, not merely on the low cost of shipping to service users.

With the issuance of this regulation, it is hoped that post organizers will not get carried away with the promotion of free shipping e-commerce.

This is because free shipping carried out by the marketplace is a promotional program run by the marketplace for buyers/sellers and not programs from post and courier organizers.

In addition, Asperindo also observed carefully that the Komdigi Regulation on Commercial Post Services did not regulate free shipping promotions in the marketplace.

However, to encourage wholesale prices to be carried out through a mutual agreement between postal operators and service users through a fair and transparent process.

"So, this has a positive impact on the postal and courier industries which will automatically have an impact on the income of the couriers," he explained.

In practice of its services, member company Asperindo also held a postage discount program which was given directly from post and courier business actors to service users, but there was no free shipping service from the post organizers.

According to Asperindo, free shipping from postal organizers is usually given to support social actions during disasters or special circumstances that postal organizers voluntarily take part.

Thus, Asperindo emphasized, this Komdigi Permen does not regulate the issue of free shipping e-commerce, but instead provides clear signs to post organizers in providing services.

"With this new regulation, it is hoped that it can increase operational efficiency, standardize service quality and expand delivery coverage, so that commercial postal services can reach all of the archipelago," explained Asperindo.

Asperindo assessed that the Komdigi Candy on Commercial Post Services had certainly gone through a harmonization process between ministries in the process.

"We hope that this new provision can be applied properly to support business growth and answer the challenges of distributing goods to all corners of Indonesia," explained Asperindo.

"This regulation should apply to industries that practice the implementation of postal, courier and logistics services with collecting, processing, transportation and delivery activities," he concluded.
