"Around these blocks, it turns out that there are still many blocks that we can work on, but the permit holders have been held for a long time and are not operating and this could increase even more by approximately 5,000 to 7,000 barrels per day around here (Natuna)," said Bahlil, quoted Monday, May 19.
For this reason, Bahlil asked President Prabowo Subianto's blessing to conduct a thorough evaluation of the stalled permits. He hopes that some inactive blocks can be transferred to other Cooperation Contract Contractors (KKKS) who are better prepared to work on.
Bahlil said that this licensed but not operated field has the potential to hamper the optimization of national oil and gas sources.
"If the President is pleased, we will evaluate these permits for us to return them to other KKKS who are able to realize them in order to increase lifting, to lead to energy sovereignty in accordance with what was ordered by the President," he said.
