JAKARTA - PT Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (NRE) and the Ministry of Forestry are exploring and conducting a study for the development of Bioethenol based on Aren in Indonesia.

The Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, Raja Juli Antoni, said that ISN is considered to have great potential to be developed into a source of bioethenol raw materials.

"We want to make sure that clean energy is not only present in big cities, but also from villages like these in Garut," he said in a statement to the media, Friday, May 16.

Meanwhile, President Director of Pertamina NRE, John Anis said, this is a strategic opportunity to integrate local resources with renewable energy technology.

The proximity of the ISN plantation location to the geothermal source is an added value because geothermal has the potential for energy sources in the bioethenol processing process.

"This plan was welcomed by the surrounding community who hoped to benefit the economy from the added value they planted," he continued.

This initiative is part of the government's efforts to encourage the use of renewable energy based on local wisdom.

This project is also in line with Pertamina NRE's mission to expand its clean energy portfolio in Indonesia.
