SENIPAH - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia revealed that the target of lifting oil of 1 million barrels which was previously targeted for 2030 will be moved forward to 2029.
Bahlil said this was based on a directive from President Prabowo Subianto who ordered the lifting target in 2029 to reach 900,000 to 1 million barrels. This is in line with the government's long term plan that had previously been launched.
"Regarding 2030 for 1 million barrels, until now I have no revision. We have been ordered by the President, our target must be 900,000 - 1 million barrels in 2029-2030, so as soldiers, as assistants, don't give up before fighting," Bahlil told the media crew when met at the Onshore Receiving Facility ENI Muara Bakau BV Sevenah, East Kalimantan, Wednesday, April 30.
Bahlil said, one way for the government to achieve this target is to use oil wells that have been 'employed' or idle wells that still have oil reserves that can be used.
This, he said, is still in line with the roadmap or roadmap that had previously been prepared. For this reason, he admitted that he is confident that the target of lifting 1 million barrels can occur faster than the target set.
"There is a possibility ( quickly achieved). Indonesia is a big country. Don't always be pessimistic. If we are pessimistic, how will other countries see our country? So we must be optimistic," said Bahlil.
Just so you know, currently the realization of oil lifting according to Bahlil has only reached 580,000 BOPDs. Meanwhile, the lifting target this year listed in the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) reaches 605,000 barrels of oil per day.
"In our APBN 605,000 barrels per day in 2025 and I, God willing, will be able to achieve and even exceed the target of what is stated in the APBN," said Bahlil.

Previously, Bahlil also revealed that he was preparing regulations related to the handling of community oil wells by formulating guidelines for good engineering practices or good mining practices.
This step aims to increase national oil production as well as curb the operations of illegal oil wells to become legal business entities, such as cooperatives or regional-owned enterprises (BUMD).
"The wells that people manage must be legalized and can be recognized for production as part of the lifting that Pertamina will accommodate at a good price," Bahlil told the media crew at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Monday, April 28.
