JAKARTA Indonesia now officially has the Association of Experts and Producers of Oil Spice Pollution Equipment (Pertagulmar), which was inaugurated through the Decree of the Minister of Law and Human Rights Number AHU0002485.AH.01.07.
Pertagulmar is led by Admiral TNI (Ret.) Dr. Ir. Eko Djalmo Asmadi, MH, former Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP).
"Pertagulmar is present as the first association in Indonesia to combine experts and companies in the field of prevention and control of hazardous oil and chemical pollution in the sea and coastal environment," said Eko Djalmo Asmadi in a statement to the media, Tuesday, April 29.
Eko explained that the existence of this organization is an important step in strengthening the national environmental protection system, especially the marine ecosystem that is prone to spills of oil and hazardous waste.
Carrying out a mission to protect the marine environment, continued Eko, Pertagulmar is committed to prioritizing modern technology in its operations.
"The use of equipment such as oil boom, chemical boom, skimmer, and dispersant is carried out according to international standards from the International Maritime Organization (IMO). In addition, Pertagulmar collaborates with various equipment manufacturers from Indonesia, Europe, to the United States, to ensure the implementation of effective and efficient solutions in the field," he said.
