JAKARTA - The use of herbal medicines as part of the national health service system has again received serious attention through the implementation of the National Symposium by PT Industri Jamu and Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk (SIDO), in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University, West Sumatra.

Farm., explained the material regarding Indonesia's Traditional Medicines Supervision Policy in Supporting the Healthy Indonesia Program.
He emphasized the importance of strict but supportive regulations in ensuring the safety and efficacy of herbal medicines in society.
Then, the Director of Production and Distribution of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Dita Novianti Sugandi Argadiredja, S.S., Apt., MM, conveyed the government's latest policy regarding the use of traditional medicines in national health services, strengthening the position of herbal medicine in complementary treatment systems and scientific evidence-based alternatives.
The session was closed by apt. Wahyu Widayani, S.S.S., Factory Head of PT Industri Jamu and Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk, which discussed how the herbal industry, particularly Sido Muncul, has adopted Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards in the herbal production process to ensure the quality and safety of the products produced.
The second session was filled by three academics and researchers who had actively studied herbal medicines, especially Tolak Angin products.
Dr. dr. Neni Susilaningsih, M.Si., from the Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University, conveyed the results of the Tolak Angin Beneficiary Test, which showed that this product has significant potential to increase endurance and relieve wind-in symptoms based on controlled research results.
Furthermore, Dr. apt. Ipang Djunarko, S.Si., M.Sc., from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Sanata University, Dharma Yogyakarta, discussed the results of the Subchronic Toxicity Test, Tolak Angin.
He emphasized that based on laboratory tests, Tolak Angin was proven safe to consume within a certain period of time with a dose as recommended.
The symposium closed with an explanation from Prof. Dr. dr. Satya Wydya Yenny, Sp.D.V.E, Subsp.D.E, M.Ag, FINSDV. FAADV., Professor of Cosmetics and Aesthetics Dermatology of the Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University, with the theme Implementation of Natural Materials Research: Andalas University and the Potential of the Cosmetics Medicine Industry.
