A trader at Pasar 7 Ulu Palembang, Faisal (28) said, today selling Rp25,000 chicken per kilogram increased by Rp1,000 from yesterday's Rp24,000 per kilogram.
He mentioned that many housewives buy chickens in a large amount ranging from three to 10 kilograms.
"Many housewives buy chickens, because the price of chickens is currently falling," he said in Palembang, Antara, Tuesday, April 22.
Meanwhile, Ferdy (29) another trader at Jakabaring Market, Palembang, admitted that he was grateful for the lower price of the chicken which made the chicken run out faster at around 10:00 WIB than usual.
According to him, the demand for cut chicken on the day usually increases on weekends on Friday and Saturday-Sunday.
The price of chickens, which were previously sold at a price of Rp. 30,000 to Rp. 35,000 per kilogram, is now only at the price of Rp. 18,000 to Rp. 23,000 per kilogram.
This price decline was caused by the abundant stock of chickens, but people's purchasing power has not fully recovered, keeping the supply of chickens high in the market.
