Kartini Day Momentum, BRI Affirms Commitment to Inclusive Economy and Gender Equality

JAKARTA - In order to commemorate Kartini Day, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI through the Ultra Micro Holding consisting of BRI, PT Pegadaian, and PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), affirmed its commitment to financial inclusion and gender equality by continuing to empower female entrepreneurs throughout Indonesia.

This holding has proven to be a catalyst for women's economic empowerment, especially through the Mekaar (Fostering a Prosperous Family Economy) program by PNM. By the end of December 2024, the Mekaar Program has served more than 14.4 million underprivileged female debtors.

BRI Corporate Secretary Agustya Hendy Bernadi said that women have a key role in driving economic growth and family welfare, especially in the micro and ultra micro sectors.

"The commemoration of Kartini Day is an important momentum for BRI to reaffirm its commitment to women's empowerment. BRI Group through the Ultra Micro Holding continues to encourage access to financing and empowerment so that female entrepreneurs can continue to develop, move up a class, and become more empowered," said Hendy.

Along with the digital transformation and synergy between members of the Ultra Micro Holding, especially PNM, financial services for female entrepreneurs are now increasingly accessible, even to remote areas. Not only providing access to capital, BRI Group is also active in providing financial literacy education, entrepreneurship training, and character building so that female customers can build businesses easily and develop sustainably.

The women's empowerment program run by the Ultra Micro Holding is also in line with the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles which are the reference for BRI Group in running a responsible and sustainable business.
