JAKARTA - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI has distributed People's Business Credit (KUR) to the food sector amounting to IDR 14.3 trillion and reached 128 debtors throughout Indonesia by the end of 2024.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said the allocation covers 43 percent of BNI's total KUR portfolio of IDR 33.2 trillion as of December 2024.

"BNI is committed to strengthening the MSME ecosystem in the food sector as part of a real contribution to the government's priority program in realizing food self-sufficiency," Okki said in a written statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Sunday, April 13.

The KUR scheme offered includes Supermicro KUR with a ceiling of up to Rp. 10 million, Micro KUR between Rp. 10 million to Rp. 100 million, Small KUR for financing above Rp. 100 million to Rp. 500 million, and PMI KUR for financing of up to Rp. 100 million.

Especially for financing with a ceiling of up to Rp. 100 million, it is given without additional collateral.

In addition to the distribution of KUR, BNI is also actively supporting the Joint Institutional Development Program of Farmer Groups (Gapoktan) into cooperatives initiated by the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (Kemenkop). This program aims to make cooperatives a direct distribution of subsidized fertilizers to farmers.

BNI's support for the transformation of Gapoktan is part of efforts to strengthen the national agro industry ecosystem while improving the welfare of farmers and small business actors in the food sector.

"BNI is ready to provide working capital financing to Gapoktan which has transformed into a cooperative, so that it can play a role in the distribution of subsidized fertilizers and other business development," said Okki.

This strategy step shows BNI's consistency in supporting the government's Asta Cita agenda, especially in efforts to create sustainable and fair food security.
