Minister Of Transportation Dudy: Lebaran Homecoming Trend Shifts, Trains Are Increasingly Attracted By The Community

TANGERANG - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi said the trend of Eid homecoming this time showed a shift in the choice of transportation modes. Especially on the island of Java, people prefer trains over planes.

"Meanwhile, in Java, there is a shift to the train. But later we have to see everything after this is over," he said when met by reporters at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Thursday, March 27.

Dudy said that the shift in the trend of Eid transportation modes is in line with roads with higher aircraft ticket price factors compared to other transportation nodes. This includes the work from anywhere (WFA) policy which participates in changing the travel pattern of travelers.

Furthermore, Dudy said WFA also had an impact on the pattern of departure of travelers. He said the surge in passenger movements did not only occur at the peak of the homecoming flow, but had started to increase since a few days earlier.

"So the WFA affects the choice of date, people leave, then the ticket affects the spike in ticket purchase requests," he said.

Even so, Dudy said the peak of the homecoming flow would still occur on D-3 Lebaran. Where the number of passengers who will travel to du all airports in Indonesia reaches 750,000 people, and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta) accounts for 222,000 people.

After conducting the review, Dudy said the service at Soetta Airport was getting better to deal with the surge in passengers that occurred during the Eid 2025 transportation period.

"There are many improvements here and we hope Soekarno-Hatta to become a world class airport. The service is getting better, very good. If I compare with the airport outside, it's no less good," said Dudy.

For your information, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi together with the Presidential Special Envoy for the Development of the Young Generation and Art Workers Raffi Ahmad reviewed the situation at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport ahead of the peak of the 2025 Eid homecoming flow.
