JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has issued a revision of the 2025-2060 National Electricity General Plan (RUKN).
In this new regulation, the government projects the production of electricity in 2060 to reach 1,947 TWh and will be dominated by new and renewable energy. This target is contained in the Decree of the Minister (Kepmen) of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 85.K/TL.01/MEM.L/2025 concerning the RUKN signed by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia on March 5, 2025.
It is stated that the addition of power plants based on the energy mix target in the National Energy Policy (KEN), namely net power in 2060 of around 443 GW, consists of 41.5 percent of Variable Renewable Energy (VRE) plants equipped with around 34 GW of storage batteries and about 58.5 percent of basic load plants or non-VRE.
"The energy mix in 2060 consists of new energy and renewable energy (EBET) of around 73.6 percent," wrote the regulation quoted on Tuesday, March 25.
