The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has allocated a total of IDR 3.85 trillion to support the development of the Industropolis Batang Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Central Java.

SEZ Industropolis Batang is the fruit of the transformation of the Batang Integrated Industrial Zone (KIT) which was previously regulated through Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 106 of 2022.

PU Minister Dody Hanggodo said that the PU Ministry's support for the Industropolis Batang SEZ includes the construction of a 50.2 kilometer road and bridge infrastructure with a budget of IDR 1.2 trillion, jetty access worth IDR 194.1 billion and 400 hectares of land maturation at a cost of IDR 514.3 billion.

"This infrastructure ensures the smoothness and efficiency of industrial supply chains, which are the keys in strengthening investment attraction in this area," said Dody in his official statement after accompanying President Prabowo Subianto to inaugurate the development of the KEK Industropolis Batang, Thursday, March 20.

In terms of water resource management, the Ministry of Public Works through the Pemali Juana River Basin Center (BBWS) has completed the construction of a main drainage (long storage) with a capacity of 105.000 cubic meters to control flooding in an area of 450 hectares and reservoirs with a total capacity of 1.041.802 cubic meters.

The raw water infrastructure, which was built at a cost of IDR 409.7 billion, is capable of providing up to 285 liters per second for industrial needs and communities around the region.

Dody added that the Ministry of Public Works has also built a Wastewater Processing Installation (IPAL) with a capacity of 18,000 cubic meters per day at a cost of Rp. 344 billion.

This IPAL uses environmentally friendly technology Moving Bed Biofilm Reaktor (MBBR) and is equipped with an 18-kilometer pipeline network.

"In addition, the Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST) with a capacity of 35 tons per day has also been completed with a budget of Rp. 21.9 billion," said Dody.

To support the needs of workers' housing, Dody said, the Ministry of Public Works through the Directorate General of Housing has built 10 towers of barracks-type flats with a capacity of 2,620 people with a budget of IDR 351.9 billion.

With reliable and integrated infrastructure support, Dody believes, SEZ Industropolis Batang is able to encourage regional economic growth of up to 8 percent.

"We will continue to be committed to supporting Indonesia's great vision of becoming a developed country through the development of quality, sustainable infrastructure and providing benefits to all levels of society," he concluded.
