JAKARTA - Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Maman Abdurrahman emphasized the importance of integrated database management and the formation of MSME clusters to support the development and competitiveness of the sector.
Maman said the role of MSMEs in the nation's economy was very good, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, but for him there was no integrated database.
"Today I have to admit that on the one hand there are advantages that we have achieved, but on the other hand there are also several weaknesses that are outstanding issues that we must immediately clean up. We practically don't have an integrated database of all counterparts, partnerships," said Maman as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 17.
According to him, the government, the private sector, and SOEs are involved in the development of MSMEs, but the problem is that the sector data collection has not been integrated and centralized to diagnose what problems they face.
"What are the problems of our brothers and sisters, MSME entrepreneurs, we are still pushing them. So we are trying to integrate the digitalization database that we are trying to integrate. Now that's what we want to make called the Sapa Sapa MSME superapps," he said.
Furthermore, Maman said the government also strongly supports the marketing of MSME products.
This is realized through PP Number 7 of 2021, regulating the allocation of 40 percent where the expenditure of goods and services of the central and regional governments must use local MSME products
"One of these PP Number 7 provides obligations in the posture of our APBN, the central, provincial and district budgets, allocating 40 percent of the procurement of goods must empower MSMEs," he explained.
For this opportunity, Maman admitted that his party encourages MSME clusters to meet the government's needs, such as air conditioning products or air conditioning.
"I don't think it's possible that we should start making some clustering products, which listings are the most in demand and needed by our state budget, state spending, and that's what we can encourage to be industrialized," said Maman.
According to him, with regulations requiring the allocation of 40 percent of the MSME market in the procurement of goods and services based on PP Number 7 of 2021, it must be an opportunity that can be utilized as well as possible by MSME entrepreneurs.
Maman also said that one of the steps being encouraged was the establishment of an MSME holding, a strategic step to strengthen the position of MSMEs in facing increasingly fierce market competition.
"Procurement of goods and services, APBN, Provincial APBD, and Regency APBD is given 40 percent space for MSMEs throughout Indonesia," said Maman.

Furthermore, Maman hopes that other sectors can develop through this policy, so that MSMEs will not only be a complement, but also a major player in the national economy.
"How come we can't push for an AC product ecosystem? Surely I'm sure that almost all central, provincial and district governments need air conditioning or furniture. Can we not make that? Well, that's what we were pushing, namely we want to make the name MSME holding," said Maman.
