JAKARTA - PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk. (BSI) recorded digital transactions worth IDR 40.85 trillion during the first quarter of 2021. Of this amount, BSI Mobile services became the main support with a contribution of IDR 17.3 trillion through 14.65 million transactions.

BSI President Director Hery Gunardi said the increase in digital transactions was driven by a pandemic factor that made customers have new ways of doing financial activities without having to face-to-face.

"BSI provides a variety of banking services that are quite suitable for the daily lifestyle of customers," he said in an official statement, quoted on Monday, April 26.

Hery added, the company is now continuing to develop a digital ecosystem with a number of attractive features to further assist customers in carrying out financial activities.

"In the near future, it is hoped that BSI Mobile can be used by customers and the wider community to access financing," he said.

According to him, the presence of BSI Mobile can make it easier for customers, including features to open an account online, transfer, online shopping, QRIS transactions, top up electronic money, and pay school fees.

"We also provide Zakat, Infaq, Alms and Waqf (ZISWAF) services, so that it is not only a medium for financial management, but also makes it easier to do good and share with others," he explained.

For information, during this year's Ramadan momentum, BSI is also socializing the use of QRIS to the public as one of the ZISWAF payment instruments.

It was stated that there was an increase in the volume of QRIS transactions, namely by 5,182 percent on a year-on-year (yoy) basis to IDR 4.7 billion.

"Through the use of QRIS, it is hoped that it can support the development of the halal ecosystem," he said.

"We are also actively involved in Islamic financial inclusion in mosques and Islamic boarding schools, one of which is through the inauguration of the QRIS Pesantren on 22-23 April 2021 at the Minhaajurrosyidiin Islamic Boarding School, Jakarta. On this occasion, BSI distributed KUR worth IDR 1.55 billion, ā€¯continued Hery.

To note, BSI is a bank that is the merger of three state-owned Islamic banks, namely PT Bank Syariah Mandiri, PT Bank BNI Syariah, and PT Bank BRIsyariah Tbk. which began operating on February 1, 2021.

This merger brings together the strengths of the three Islamic banks and aims to optimize the huge financial and economic potential of Indonesian sharia.
