JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) supports the steps taken by the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in taking firm action against factories that are proven to reduce the volume of the contents of Minya Kita's packaging and sell them above the highest retail price (HET).

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry Febri Hendri Antoni Arif emphasized that his party pays serious attention to the fraudulent practice because it harms consumers and tarnishes the government's program in providing cheap and quality cooking oil.

"This action is an important momentum to curb the entire supply chain of Minya Kita so that according to the rules. The current HET is IDR 15,700 per liter and we hope the price remains affordable for the community," said Febri in a written statement, quoted Wednesday, March 12.

Febri said that his party was committed to continuing to increase supervision and take firm action against producers who violated the rules. Companies that are proven to have committed fraud will be subject to administrative sanctions to the revocation of business licenses.

"We will not hesitate to impose administrative sanctions until the revocation of business licenses for factories that are proven to violate the rules. This is our commitment to protect the interests of the community," he said.

The Ministry of Industry also appealed to all producers and distributors to comply with the regulations that have been set as well as invite the public to participate in supervising the circulation of Minya Kita in the market.

"If indications of violations are found, the public is expected to immediately report to the authorities," he concluded.

Previously, the National Police had named one suspect in the case of violating the distribution of Minya Kita with an incommensurate mode. The suspect is said to be the owner or head of the warehouse.

The suspect served as head of the branch because he was appointed by PT. MSI and PT. ARN assigned to pack and sell cooking oil.

"In this case, investigators have named one suspect, namely the initials AWI who acts as the owner or concurrently as the head of the branch as well as the manager of the location," said Director of Special Economic Crimes at Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Helfi Assegaf to reporters, Tuesday, March 11.
