Zulhas Said There Will Be Rules For Accelerating The MBG Program

Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan or Zulhas said there would be regulations regarding the acceleration of the Free Nutrition Food Program, aka MBG, which would soon be issued.

Zulhas said that the role of each ministry or institution involved will be explained later.

"We need one rule. Earlier we agreed that it would be formulated together, whether in the form of Presidential Instruction (Inpres) or Presidential Regulation (Perpres)," Zulhas said at a press conference at his office, Monday, March 3.

According to Zulhas, President Prabowo Subianto's program requires a large budget because the number of beneficiaries is also quite large.

In addition, he said, the government is also preparing a supply chain for Prabowo's flagship program. Given, the need for MBG in every province of Indonesia is different.

"Therefore, we need to prepare a supply chain, because the need is very large. In Java (Clau) it will certainly be different from Sumatra. Sumatra will also certainly be different from Eastern Indonesia's food," said Zulhas.

"Therefore, we need to prepare the availability of the ingredients," he continued.

Moreover, Zulhas said, the MBG program will target 82.9 million beneficiaries by the end of this year.

"It is hoped that the local government (Pemda), related ministries (is involved). Of course, the Nutrition Agency (National) does not work alone, all need cooperation, including the supply of materials. Then, there are also inter-ports, inter-trade areas and so on," said Zulhas.

"Therefore, one rule is needed, which will be formulated together," he added.
