West Papua Records Highest Deflation In Indonesia In February 2025

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that there was deflation in February 2025 which was recorded at 048 percent on a monthly basis or month to month (mtm) or lower than the previous month's deflation which reached 0.76 percent (mtm).

For information, the consumer price index (IHK) decreased from 105.99 in January 2025 to 105.48 in February 2025.

Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said that 33 provinces experienced deflation and 5 others experienced inflation.

"The deepest deflation occurred in West Papua at 1.41 percent (mtm), while the highest inflation occurred in Papua at 2.78 percent (mtm)," Amalia said at a press conference, Monday, March 3.

As for the Sumatra region, the lowest deflation occurred in the Babel Islands at 0.03 percent (mtm), and the deepest deflation occurred in Lampung at 0.66 percent.

Then in the Kalimantan region, the lowest deflation occurred in West Kalimantan at 0.04 percent (mtm), and the deepest deflation in Central Kalimantan was 0.46 percent (mtm).

Furthermore, for the Sulawesi region, the lowest deflation in Southeast Sulawesi is 0.36 percent (mtm), and the deepest deflation in South Sulawesi is 0.89 percent (mtm).

Next in Java, the lowest deflation was in DKI Jakarta at 0.29 percent (mtm), and the deepest deflation in DI Yogyakarta was 0.86 percent (mtm).

Furthermore, for the Bali Nusa Tenggara Region, the lowest deflation in East Nusa Tenggara is 0.37 percent (mtm), and the deepest deflation in West Nusa Tenggara is 0.60 percent (mtm).

Finally, in the Maluku and Papua Regions, experiencing the lowest inflation in the Mountains Papua by 2.78 percent (mtm), and the deepest inflation in West Papua by 1.41 percent (mtm).
