Prabowo's Ministers Open Their Voices About The Wave Of Layoffs

JAKARTA - A number of Ministers of the Red and White Cabinet have opened their voices regarding the threat of termination of employment (PHK) in Indonesia.

Deputy Minister of Industry (Wamenperin) Faisol Riza opened his voice regarding the potential for termination of employment (PHK) in various sectors.

He emphasized that the government is taking sides with workers and will invite all industries to take steps so that layoffs do not occur.

"Yes, in general, the government does not want layoffs. That has become the government's commitment to no layoffs. Indeed, now we are monitoring everything, so that the government's wishes can really be together with industrial conditions," said Faisol to the media crew, after the first quarter of 2025 economic growth acceleration meeting, Thursday, 27 February.

Furthermore, the Minister of Manpower Yassierli, said that the government always strives so that there are no layoffs and is currently waiting for reports related to the situation.

"We always try not to lay off. Later we will see this I am listening to, waiting for the report," he said.

However, Yassierli explained that it could not be ascertained regarding the absence of layoffs, because according to law, this step was the last taken by the company, and his party would examine this further.

"Legally, the company used the layoffs as the last step, so we want to check it," he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said that her party had coordinated with the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) regarding the potential for layoffs that would occur in the hotel industry, due to government efficiency policies.

"We have coordinated with PHRI, there is indeed an impact, but we think it will be temporary. If we have no plan for layoffs, later we will clarify again by recording," he said.
