JAKARTA - Head of the Center of Industry, Trade, and Investment INDEF, Andry Satrio Nugroho hopes that President Prabowo Subianto will appoint a professional figure who is independent of political interests to lead the Danantara.

The reason is, if this strategic position is filled by bureaucrats or individuals who have political affiliation without adequate competence, then the credibility of the institution will be at stake. In addition, wrong decisions in the selection of the Danantara leadership can trigger capital outflows from the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) and the flow of foreign funds from the State Securities Market (SBN).

"If that condition occurs, it will reduce foreign ownership in this investment instrument," he said in his statement, Sunday, February 23, 2025.

Andry added that seven state-owned companies that are under Danantara and have been listed on the stock exchange are expected to experience deep stock corrections after the announcement of the leadership ranks, especially the shares of State-Owned Banks Association (Himbara).

Another risk of choosing a Danantara leader is that negative sentiment that arises will also make the rupiah exchange rate against the dollar even more depressed towards Rp16,500, and will even continue to weaken until the end of the year. This condition will make it even more difficult for Danantara to get funding and trust from foreign investors in the future.

Therefore, Andry emphasized that the Danantara leader must be fugur experienced in managing investment funds and have a track record in managing the corporate business.

"I see that if those who manage this actually have political affiliations, are the families of public officials, current ministry leaders, then it has been confirmed that moral hazards occur and the accountability of this agency will be increasingly questioned," he said.
