JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) responded to criticism from housing developers about corrupt land being difficult to use for the three million house program.
Ara said, there is land in Bekasi, West Java, which is ready to support the program.
"On Saturday I will see (the) ex-Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) of several hectares in Bekasi," said Ara when met at the Ministry of Finance, Jakarta, Thursday night, February 20.
"We see that it's an idle part. That means, it's ready," he continued.
The three million houses per year are programs promised by President Prabowo Subianto during the 2024 presidential election campaign.
After being inaugurated as president, Prabowo then formed the Ministry of PKP.
Through the new ministry, Prabowo is targeting the construction of 2 million houses in rural areas and 1 million houses in urban areas.
To support the program, Ara claims that the Attorney General's Office (AGO) has prepared 1,000 hectares of land confiscated from corruptors in Banten to build public housing.
After the confiscated assets were reported to the Directorate General of State Assets of the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu), Ara hoped that bureaucratic affairs could be made easier so that they could be used immediately.

The discourse was then criticized by the General Chairperson of the All-Indonesian Housing and Settlement Development Association (Apersi) Junaidi Abdillah. According to him, the program is difficult to run.
"This is a very long dream. The land of corruptors must be clean and clear. It is not easy," he said at a press conference in the Kebayoran Baru area, South Jakarta, Tuesday, February 18.
