JAKARTA - The government proposed the policy of implementing work from anywhere (WFA) ahead of the Lebaran 2025 holiday period. The proposal was originally voiced by the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi. The proposal also received special attention from President Prabowo Subianto.
Responding to this, the Ministry of Public Works (PU) welcomed the plan to implement WFA ahead of Eid al-Fitr. Director General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works Roy Rizali Anwar said the WFA policy could reduce congestion points at the peak of Eid homecoming.
"Yes, if we work from anywhere, we should be more happy. Because the road users who go home will definitely be more. More early, not focused on the holiday that has been set, lah," said Roy, written Thursday, February 20.
With the WFA policy, according to Roy, travelers will have many travel path options. Thus, the homecoming congestion point can be minimized. "This may have an impact on the distribution of road users going home via toll roads and national roads. I think that's a very good idea," he said.
Meanwhile, Roy said that his party was mapping the main roads that were crowded with travelers. He will also ensure that there are no major roads.
"We have been checking while we were identifying. We also saw experiences during Nataru and Lebaran last year. We are currently mapping which points are jammed, everywhere which may be dense and so on (as well as) what treatment we have to do," he concluded.

Previously, the Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi met with the Minister of PAN-RB Rini Widyantini. This meeting is to discuss the proposed WFA scheme or work anywhere before the 2025 Eid holiday.
The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) submitted a WFA proposal starting March 24, 2025, to anticipate traffic congestion during the Lebaran 2025 homecoming period.
Dudy explained that the WFA proposal was based on the implementation of the Nyepi holiday which is adjacent to Eid al-Fitr, namely on March 29 and 31.
"Departing from this, we propose WFA starting March 24. Our assumption is that if it is implemented, the travelers will travel from March 21 evening. So, we have time to unravel the travelers during Eid," said Dudy in an official statement, Wednesday, February 19.
