Avtur Via Pipelines Burglarized In Sumbagut, Pertamina Loses Hundreds Of Millions

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga said that based on evidence from the police, the loss due to the theft of illegal tapping in the Kualanamu Aviation Fuel Terminal (AFT) revenue pipeline was around Rp. 400 million.

"Based on evidence from the police, (losses) are around Rp. 400 million," said Area Manager Comm, Rel, & CSR of Pertamina Patra Niaga, North Sumatra Regional (Sumbagut) Susanto August Satria when contacted by ANTARA from Jakarta, Saturday.

The evidence contained in the police is 29 baby tanks with an avtur volume of around 30 kiloliters (KL).

However, the total amount of losses has not been confirmed, because Pertamina is still waiting for the results of the investigation from the Deli Serdang Police, North Sumatra.

One of the things that is being investigated is when the syndicate will start operating.

"We are still waiting for the results of the investigation from the Deli Serdang Police regarding the timing of the operation (avtur theft syndicate)," said Satria.

Nevertheless, Satria ensured that Avtur acceptance and distribution activities in Kualanamu operated normally with a high level of safety and security.

In the future, he continued, Pertamina will evaluate the security of pipelines, especially in areas adjacent to the coastal border.

Previously, Lantamal I Belawan TNI AL succeeded in arresting and taking action against the theft of fuel oil (BBM) type avtur at Dewi Indah Beach, Deli Serdang District, North Sumatra, Tuesday (11/2/2025).

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga also appreciates the Indonesian Navy Main Base (Lantamal) I Belawan, North Sumatra, which has carried out security and action against theft of avtur (illegal tapping) in the Kualanamu Aviation Fuel Terminal (AFT) admission pipeline.

Pertamina Patra Niaga is also committed to continuing to increase supervision of the distribution of Avtur to prevent similar incidents in the future.

"We also urge the public to participate in reporting suspicious activities on illegal tapping related to distribution and misuse of avtur so that the security of energy supply is maintained," said Satria.
